The hill is located southeast of the center of Tarnów, partly within its administrative borders. It is the northern edge of the threshold of the Carpathian Foothills. It is an interesting viewpoint from which the panorama of the city extends. The name of the mountain (popularly called Marcinka) comes from the historic church of St. Marcin's in the present village of Zawada, which is the oldest parish temple in Tarnów and its immediate surroundings. St. mountain Marcin lies in the Biała river basin, sharply bending over its valley. Its northern slope is within the administrative boundaries of Tarnów, the peak and the gently sloping southern slope occupy the buildings of Zawada. Currently, Saint Martin's Mountain is a recreational facility for the inhabitants of Tarnów. A network of walking and cycling paths has been marked out in the forest, there is also a playground for children, and below the edge of the forest - a swimming pool. As a result of archaeological research conducted west of the mountain peak, the remains of a Gothic castle, built in the first half of the 14th century, were unearthed.
