The facility was founded in 1998. It is located at ul. St. Wawrzyńca 15 in Krakow in the building of the former depot of the first narrow-gauge electric tram. It collects exhibits related to the development of public transport, power plants, gas industry, municipal economy and monuments of technical history. In addition to the exhibition activity, the Museum of Engineering also organizes interactive exhibitions related to technology, physics, chemistry and history, in which school students participate and in this respect acts as a science museum. Together with the provincial authorities, the Polish Aviation Museum and the Water Park in Krakow, the museum implements a joint educational program called "Adventures with knowledge" addressed to primary, junior high school, high school and technical secondary school students. It combines elements that promote technical knowledge with the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The museum offers a block of museum lessons conducted by museum employees.
