A reconstructed defensive castle erected on a steep peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Dunajec River in the Czchów commune. The history of the castle is associated with the village of Tropie located on the opposite side of the river. The castle was probably built at the beginning of the 13th century on the initiative of the Ośmiorogi family. The first mention of it comes from 1231. The building often changed its owners. In 1574 he was even settled by robbers who robbed merchants and rafts passing the Dunajec River. The owners of the neighboring Rożnów attacked the fortress, killing bandits and at the same time ruined the castle, which began to decline.
