A place of walks and a city park decoration of the city of Krakow. Planty Krakowskie arose in the early nineteenth century, in place of the former defensive walls, moats that were demolished. Their area is surrounded by greenery throughout the entire downtown of Krakow, extending for a length of 4 km. The official establishment of Planty dates back to 1822. Numerous stone benches in the park have survived from that period. Planty is the favorite place of entertainment for the Cracovians. Concerts, garden games and illuminations take place here. Their area will be made primarily of trees and shrubs. There are the most chestnuts of maples, lindens, ash, elms and poplars. There are also monuments dedicated to outstanding Poles, which, combined with greenery, create beautiful nooks. Planty covers 21 ha of greenery. They are under protection because their area has been declared a monument. They present various styles of landscape architecture: classicist style in the area of ​​the Main Railway Station, romantic - in the vicinity of the Philharmonic, Art Nouveau - near Wawel, scenic - in the area between Krowoderska and Szczepańska streets.
