Is one of the largest and most important cultural institutions of the city of Krakow. The first professional Krakow Symphony Orchestra associated with the philharmonic was founded in 1909 under the direction of Feliks Nowowiejski and operated under the supervision of the Polish Musicians' Trade Union in Krakow. The Philharmonic received its patron in 1962. It was Karol Szymanowski, whose works were performed during an international tour, thanks to which the institution became the ambassador of Polish music abroad. To this day, the Krakow Philharmonic maintains a high reputation in the country and Europe not only for concert activity, but also for its impresario activity. It organizes numerous cyclical events, which include outdoor concerts, such as "Wawel Evenings" or "University Concerts". In addition, it hosts many great world-famous artists and winners of international music competitions. Bogdan Tosza has been the General Director of the philharmonic since 2012.
