Address: ul. Campi 15 , Bochnia

The historic Bochnia Salt Mine is the oldest mine in Poland where rock salt mining began. Its origins date back to 1248. Currently, after centuries of operation, it resembles an unusual underground city, showing unique excavations, chapels carved in salt rocks, and original sculptures and devices used centuries ago. The mine can be visited on foot and by boat (this original crossing takes place 230 meters underground. Participants traverse the 120-meter section of the flooded chamber in 12-passenger boats). Visiting the mine underground is a trip through beautiful excavations located at level IV August (176 m deep) and level VI Sienkiewicz (223 m deep). They include unique chambers with a characteristic geological shape and layout, the mentioned chapels with beautiful sculptures and paintings, as well as mining tools and devices that were used centuries ago. The only underground multimedia exhibition in the world is available to tourists. Walking is time travel. In telling the story of the guide, Polish kings, Genoese shipmen and even the spirit of the Cistercian monk, whose order is associated with the beginning of the Bochnia mine, helps the guide. Thanks to modern solutions and the use of multimedia techniques, the development of mining technology over the centuries, mining professions and underground elements that underground workers have struggled with is presented. All this gives the impression that the normal life of the mine went right next to the visitors. The tour ends in the Ważyn Chamber, located on level VI Sienkiewicz 250 m underground. There is a sports field, 140 m slide, underground restaurant Ważynek, souvenir shop and a mini playground for children. Two shafts lead to the mine: -Surb Sutoris Located in the very center of Bochnia in the immediate vicinity of the Sutoris Hotel, on ul. Solna 2. It is the oldest continuously active shaft in Europe. According to an old legend, it was in it that the ring thrown in by Princess Kunegunda, that is Saint. Kinga, to the salt mine in Hungarian Maramures County. -Champi Campi Its name comes from the Latin word "campus" meaning field, because the shaft minted in the 16th century was built outside the city. Next to the shaft there is a large parking lot for cars and buses, and a reconstruction of the medieval village called Osada VI Oraczy. Shaft Campi is located in Bochnia at ul. Campi 15. ATTENTION! Exits to the mine take place at the Campi shaft!
