Wadowice - a poviat city in southern Poland, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. It is located on the Skawa River. National road No. 28, national road No. 52 and railway line No. 117 run through the city. The city was first mentioned in 1327, at first it was a small center, but from the end of the 18th century, along with the construction of the route connecting Lviv with Vienna, as well as the transfer of the circus headquarters by the Austrian authorities, it began to grow faster. It is now an important pilgrimage center as the hometown of Pope John Paul II.
